PROTOTYPE ADULT INTERVENTION CENTRE IN PAPHOS
From January 2009 operates with great success on at Evrou 4 in Paphos the Pafos Intervention Centre for People with Autism. In this one year of our operation we have achieved a lot but every day we work responsibly and with great zeal to improve our programs and services. received by the people attending our Centre.
Our centre accepts people from eighteen years old and above, where after a detailed assessment are part of a programme of group and individual activities.
The integration of each person is done smoothly with a program of gradual increase in order to give people the opportunity for smooth adaptation and avoid regressions in behavior since it is known to all of us how difficult it is to accept new situations and changes in everyday life by people with autism.
Available at bus and transport the people attending our Centre from their homes downtown and at three o’clock we take them home.
We provide breakfast and lunch to the people attending our Centre.
Every day we have socialization outings integrated into our program. The daily socialization outings have greatly helped the people attending our center to become more social and functional as well as helped a lot in getting to know people with autism and fighting prejudice.
We have special rooms where specialized treatments are carried out, which require the existence of special facilities and equipment.
I consider the operation of the Intervention Centre very good and successful. I believe that it very largely meets the objectives of its operation.
The Autism Intervention Center has largely filled the gap in providing a safe space where Autistic individuals can attend and receive other services.
I consider the continuation of the operation of this Centre to be imperative, as well as the immediate creation and operation of similar centres in all the cities of Cyprus.
